On Wednesday 6th December, 2017 the Federal Government of Nigeria approved the establishment and the licensing of six new Private Universities.

With this approval of establishment the total number of Private Universities in Nigeria are now upto Seventy Four [74] While the total number of Universities in Nigeria has increased to One Hundred and Sixty [160.].

Below are the NUC List of Six Newly Approved Private Universities in Nigeria;

  1. Admiralty University, Ibusa, Delta State
  2. Spiritan University, Nneochi, Abia State
  3. Precious Cornerstone University, Oyo, Oyo State
  4. PAMO University of Medical Sciences, Portharcourt, Rivers State
  5. Atiba University, Oyo, Oyo State
  6. Eko University of Medical Sciences, Ijanikin, Lagos State.

Proprietors/Promoters Of The Six Newly Approved Private Universities.

1. The Admiralty Education Services Limited, is the Proprietor of Admiralty University of Nigeria. Admiralty University of Nigeria is located in two campuses, namely the take off campus at Ibusa, Oshimili South Local Government Area of Delta State, a 30.014 hectares land the main campus located on a 203.1 hectare  land at the present site of the Nigerian Navy Engineering College, Sapele, Sapele Local Government Area.

2. The Holy Ghost Congregation (Spiritans), province of Nigeria, South East, is the Proprietor  of Spiritan University. The location of the University is Nneato-Isuochi, Umunneochi LGA in Abia State.  Nneato and Isuochi are the names of the two towns  hosting the University.  The two communities provided the land  for the University  and they both want their names reflected in  the name..  The  University is located on a 114.517 hectares.

3. The THE SWORD OF THE SPIRIT MINISTRIES (SOTSM), is the Proprietor of the Precious Cornerstone University. The Precious Cornerstone University is located in two campuses, namely the take off campus at Garden of Victory, a (3) three hectare land  at the Old Ife Road in Ibadan and the main campus along Ibadan-Lagos Expressway in the Oluyole Local Government Area, about 24 kilometers from Ibadan City Center in Oyo State. The site covers an area of about 102.9506 hectares.

4. PAMO Educational Foundation is the proprietor of PAMO University of Medical Sciences. PAMO University of Medical Sciences is  located on multiple campuses.  The main campus  is  located on a 6.03 ha of land at No. 1 Tap Road, Elelenwo in Port Harcourt, Obio Akpor Local Government of Rivers State with the PAMO University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hosptal at Rumuomasi in Port Harcourt.

5. The Proprietor of ATIBA University is the ATIBA Oyo Education Foundation in Nigeria. The Foundation is represented by group of notable people from Oyo and Oke-Ogun axis. ATIBA University is located on two campuses in Oyo town, Atiba Local Government Area of Oyo State. Campus 1 of  ATIBA University is in Oyo town.

6. The Ibraheem Jiyyah Memorial Foundation is the Proprietor of Eko University of Medicine and Health Sciences, Ijanikin, Lagos. Eko University of Medicine and Health Sciences is located on two campuses namely Ijanikin campus and Badagry campus. The Ijanikin campus houses the take-off facilities.

It is on a 1.688 hectares of land at Km 28 Badagry Express Way, Era Road, Ijanikin in Ojo Local Government Area of Lagos State. The Badagry campus is at Topo Island, Badagry, an area of 112 hectare   coastal land.

The date for the ceremony of the official presentation of the license to the Universities would be announced in due course.
