BSUM Suspends 2nd Semester Exam, Orders Students to Vacate Hostels

The Benue State University, Makurdi Suspends 2016/2017 Ongoing 2nd Semester Examinations and Orders Students to Vacate Hostels with Immediate Effect due to Protest.

Latest Update:

STILL ON THE SUSPENSION OF SEMESTER EXAMINATIONS:

The Management of Benue State University, Makurdi, has observed that some students of the university who reside in hostels on the university campus have not vacated the hostels since Friday when the decision to suspend the semester examinations was taken.

Management of BSU restates once again that since the semester examinations were disrupted last Friday, the decision to suspend the examinations still stands and students must vacate to pave way for a new examination time table.

It should be noted that the temporary closure of the university last Friday still stands and so those still staying on the campus are doing so illegally. All students are expected to comply with this final directive by moving out of the campus before 10 AM today, Monday.

Students who fail to comply with this directive will be deemed to have violated the Matriculation Oath which they swore with its attendant sanctions. Furthermore, students and parents/guardians should note that the University awards degrees only to its graduands who are found worthy "in character and learning"...

The Management of Benue State University on behalf of the Senate has reviewed the security situation on campus and hereby directs the immediate closure of the University.

It has come to knowledge of Management that some miscreants have infiltrated the hostel thereby causing disaffection among students and truncating the ongoing second semester examinations.

As a result of the situation, all examinations are hereby suspended with immediate effect.

Students are hereby directed to vacate the hostel latest by 6:00 pm today 16, February, 2018.

Management empathizes with law abiding students who have to suffer this inconvenience.

Students are therefore urged to remain calm as the University Management is doing every thing possible to invite them to come and complete the examinations when normalcy returns to campus.

Notice to Parents and Guardians

This is to notify all parents/Guardians of students of Benue State University, Makurdi to come to the University and convey their children/wards home.

This notice has become necessary because the University has been temporarily closed to all categories of students.

Parents are hereby notified that students have been directed to vacate the hostels latest by 6:00pm today Friday, 16th February, 2018.

Management will soon invite parents/guardians and other stakeholders to discuss the way forward on student's registration in the University.

The University Management advice students, parents and Guardian to continue to remain calm and wait for further directives from the University.

All examinations have been suspended because the safety of staff and students cannot be guaranteed under the present circumstances.
