The Ladoke Akintola University of Technology [LAUTECH] Non-Academic Staff Union [NASU] Embarks on an Indefinite 3 Days Warning Strike, Disrupts Ongoing Mid-Semester Test In Departments.

Information reaching us confirmed that the Non-academic Staff Union of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology yesterday Wednesday March 14th, 2018 embarked on a 3-day warning strike, thereby putting on hold the supposed mid-semester test ongoing for all 100L tests and lecture in some departments.

According to the Dean of Students’ Affairs Dr. Sunday Adewale while speaking to the Union of Campus Journalists in a phone interview on Wednesday morning confirmed the strike action.

He Said "Most administrative buildings, including the Students’ Affairs building, Senate building, ICT centers, and Laboratories, were on lock and keys, signaling the severity of the strike"

"100L students who had already arrived at their test venues were left stranded as they could not get access into the halls. The students soon got agitated and erupted into a full blown protest, with students chanting "we no gree o, we no gree. After 150, we no go gree.”

According to reporters with the Union of Campus Journalists, the protest grew violent leading to the arrest, and subsequent release, of eight 100L students.

A student was also reported to have fainted in the course of the struggle.

However, the DSA said concerning the 100L tests that “the university management is on top of the situation,” and that “things are being put in place to ensure the tests continues on Monday.”
